I am the last.
That was the thought that rushed through my head as the hatch locked behind me. I was the only one who had reached this chamber, where the last enemy were to be encountered. But I was not meant to be. It was supposed to be Signas, not me... but I had been the one to stop Signas and take his place for this battle. Why, I am not sure. Signas with the Omega Body was specifically meant to take care of this... but he is still the Grand Marshal of the Maverickhunters. It is of greater importance to the world that he remains. And even if I do not succeed, I leave an easier task for him. I did not fear losing. This was going to be the battle of a lifetime, a foe unlike any other.
Sigma.
I knew, in the innermost part of my being, that this moment was what my life had all been leading towards. Sigma was the final... the final enemy.
I stood there, his body pinned to the wall, almost fused to my arm. I felt how the energy was starting to flow backwards... I knew what was happening. I had been told all about how this was going to work... and how it was going to end. I could do nothing but smile... almost laugh.
"It's feedbacking."
I looked down towards the floor. Sigma could not move, his body had melded into mine, my arm had melded into the wall. The energy prevented him from discarding the body. In my head, the faces of those that had left me behind started flashing.
Ignar. Razie. Mantis. Lock. Blues.
Smiling, I moved my one free arm slowly, putting a cigarette to my mouth and lighting it. It was not long left now. Another line of faces in my head... this time, those I would be leaving behind.
Silver. Shiva. Snex. Type. Zero.
I had no regrets. They would remember me, no matter what I wanted.
I felt the energy, in one quick sweep, flow back to where it had been released from... my arms. I felt my body going numb as it lost all sense of feeling... and I could hear nothing but silence. Then everything turned black.
I felt a spark in both of my elbows.
Then everything turned white.
